Injuries can happen many different ways. Very often pain and dysfunction occurs and progress over a period of months or even years. We specialize in figuring out the how’s, why’s and what’s and work with you to fix the problem. The time it takes to “fix you” can vary and depends on multiple factors (age, type of injury, etc). Generally speaking, there are three phases of chiropractic care . .
Phase 1: Relief Care
If you are like most of our patients, when you come into our office you are in pain. Our first objective is to correctly diagnose your condition, reduce the pain and start you on a path to get you feeling better as soon as possible. Depending on the nature of your condition, it is typical for a patient to need care 2-4 times per week for 4-8 weeks.
Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care
This is usually the time when you can sleep, work and move with less pain and better range of motion. Muscles and other tissues heal more completely, which helps prevent further injury or pain. The goal of corrective or restorative chiropractic care is to help bring your body back to 100% functioning. Care is usually needed 4-8 times per month for 6-24 months. Of course this depends on your overall health and the severity of your problem.
Phase 3: Wellness Care
You’ve taken the time and effort to get back to your old self. Why wait for pain to happen again, hitting “crises mode”, before you return for care? The better you maintain something, the better it functions with fewer breakdowns.
Once your body has fully healed and you are no longer experiencing back pain or other pain symptoms, it is important to come in for periodic care to avoid further problems. Usually, this phase only requires a quick visit 1-4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.
You maintain your car by changing its oil on a regular basis
Your teeth are cleaned every 6 months to prevent cavities
You exercise to promote good cardiovascular health
You take supplements to promote cellular and bodily functions
Routine chiropractic care can help you feel better, move with more freedom, and stay healthier throughout your lifetime. Although you can enjoy the benefits of chiropractic care even if you receive care for a short time, the real benefits come into play when you make chiropractic care a part of your wellness lifestyle.
